The Man Who Bought Tomorrow |
A young man named Leo, tired of his slow life, walked in and asked, "Why are these clocks silent?"
The old man smiled. "Because these don't measure time. They hold it. If you buy this gold watch, you can see exactly what will happen to you tomorrow."
Leo was thrilled. He bought the watch, went home, and pressed the button. In the reflection of the watch glass, he saw himself winning a massive lottery at 2:00 PM the next day. He was overjoyed! He spent the whole night celebrating, drinking, and telling everyone he was going to be rich.
The next day, Leo was so exhausted from celebrating and so arrogant about his "guaranteed" luck that he overslept. He woke up at 2:15 PM. He rushed to the lottery center, but the gates were closed. The winning ticket had already been claimed by someone else.
Leo ran back to the shop, furious. "The watch lied! I didn't win!"
The old man sighed. "The watch showed you tomorrow. But by knowing tomorrow, you changed your today. You stopped working for what you saw, so what you saw disappeared."
Moral: The future is a result of your actions today. If you stop acting, the future you want will never arrive.
